In The Courtyard – [ The Frame ] by Eléctrico 28

An invitation to stop
An opportunity to see the eyes of the other
A space to understand some things
A tribute to the present and daily life
A call to open our hearts
A pacific riot against capitalist thought

About [ The Frame ]

[ The Frame ] proposes to settle down in front of the passing city life to observe it. There are chairs, eyes, words, signs, sounds, voices, tarmac and many other things. There is a myriad of characters and among them, four who are trained in the disciplines of observation and arranging of whatsoever, who submit to the vertigo of the live flow in order to capture everything that happens during 45 minutes. There is no plot. There is no ending. [ The Frame ] is many species of spaces – playful, poetic, for surprises and spontaneous actions, for meeting strangers – but, above all, it is about crisscrossing the ordinary, the trivial and the general to discover and fall in love with the extraordinary, the special and the unique.

Performance Schedule

Four performances of [ The Frame ] will be held throughout the evening. Each performance is roughly 45 minutes long. Please note that seating is limited but there is ample space for standing.

  • 6:30pm – Performance 1
  • 8:00pm – Performance 2
  • 9:30pm – Performance 3
  • 11:00pm – Performance 4

In The Gallery – Explore Three Exciting Exhibitions

On the Matter of Memory: The Drawings of Harold Cromwell

Get caught up in the work of folk artist Harold Cromwell whose meticulous pen-and-ink drawings capture his experiences growing up in rural Nova Scotia during the Great Depression. Working entirely from memory, Cromwell’s detailed illustrations, drawn on everything from cupboard doors, to scraps of canvas, to paper plates, illuminate a key moment in Nova Scotia’s history and document a time of great transition in the environment and social fabric of his community in Weymouth Falls.

Silt and Sugar

Experience the rich history and traditions surrounding afternoon tea in Silt and Sugar. This new exhibition brings together ceramic works from the AGNS Permanent Collection that trace the intertwined histories of pottery and tea, from their origins in East Asia to their lasting influence on rituals, customs, and cultures around the world. These works celebrate the globally connected history of a simple household ingredient and the social ceremonies that have developed alongside it.

The Maud Lewis Gallery

See a large collection of Maud’s original paintings and step right up to the humble home in which she lived and worked, where almost every surface is covered in her distinct and vibrant scenes. Lovingly preserved and on permanent display, Maud’s painted house is a masterpiece of Nova Scotia folk art and a favourite for all ages. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
